Design, Installation and Service

Your home requires many separate systems to function, keep you comfortable and keep you safe. This can take time and effort out of your busy day to manage. We offer easy monitoring and control of all these systems from your cell phone, iPad or any computer from anywhere, offering you easy user-friendly control of your home and security.

First, we will start with a security survey and determine the level of monitoring, control and protection you need. Next, we will help you define what other electronics you want to control and present options to do so. This will allow you to get the most out of your home. You can also control and monitor your home when you are not there. This is becoming important since we now work more are travel more.

We don't just design and install home control and security- we create total environments, both interiors and exteriors that are technologically functional, safe and exciting places in which to work and live.

System Design

We start by doing an in-depth survey of your home (or blueprints if building a new home), security and all the subsystems in your home (see examples above) as well as your specific needs and preferences. We will design a whole house system considering all family members, guests and any household staff. This extensive process will allow us to design and customize a unique system matched to your particular lifestyle.

We will also take into account what you would like to incorporate into your systems in the future as your needs change and new technologies develop. We will build in scalability and open-ended systems for simply "adding to" or modifying the system, rather than starting over.

If you are building a new home, we can also work with your architect, interior designer, general contractor and subcontractors. We will make sure everyone is on the same page throughout every phase of the project. This will insure there are no surprises, costly mistakes or delays in your construction schedule.

User Control

We can give you easy ways to control everything
in your home using any or all of the following:

Wall Switch
(which is also controlled by
remotes, phone, computer, etc.)

Touch Screen Remote

Wall Control Panel

Double Wall Control Panel

Button Remote

Outside or In Shower
(waterproof)

Cell Phone
(control house from
anywhere in the world)

Touch Screen
(can be hung on wall,
recessed into wall or
built into furniture)

makes it look like someone is home)

Why Home Control?

First of all, there are the obvious reasons of security, control, convenience, comfort, entertaining and peace of mind. Many systems today are too complicated to operate (take audio/video, for example). We create one simple, user-friendly remote where you touch one button and it does everything for you. We make today's busy world easier and safer, taking care of a tedious things all of us have to remember and do daily.

It frees you up for more important and enjoyable things. Life becomes more manageable, less stressful, less frustrating. We work with you to design a custom system that will fit and enhance your particular lifestyle and keep you safe.

Another reason is that you are able to control and monitor your home when out of town. This is becoming more important since we are now traveling more. You can even view your home cameras over the Internet from anywhere in the world to check on things.

Our systems are easy to operate. Your home becomes "smarter" with everything working together. We design and install seamless interaction of all electronic components within our integrated systems. You no longer have to micro-manage every individual system separately every single day. You can have access and control of everything from centralized locations (Family Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, etc.).

Home control and security will help you get the most of your home investment. It will also pay for itself in energy savings, not to mention ...Your time, personal productivity , development and peace of mind. In addition, it will add valve to the resale your home. Further, it can future proof your home by allowing inexpensive upgrades to new technologies, rather than costly retrofits or remodeling.

Existing Home

We can do retrofit installation into existing construction. It will be a clean and seamless installation with no messy construction or exposed wiring. We have done this for many years and know how to make everything work without tearing up your home.

The design will integrate smoothly and efficiently into your home in a manner that compliments all of the subsystems. Lastly, you can be assured the design and installation will be a seamless fit with your decor. Being interior designers, we realize how important the design concept is to the scope of the project...we never loose sight of the old form vs. function concept.

Our systems can easily be installed in your home without any
messy construction or exposed wiring and expanded later.

New Home

Of course, we can also do new construction installation. We will work with your architect, interior designer, general contractor, and other relevant subcontractors involved in your project.

We will assure that the design and installation of your systems integrates smoothly and efficiently into the construction time line.

Systems Integration

Most people start by eliminating the mess of remotes that make up their audio/video system with one universal remote. The problem with that is that most universal remotes are too hard to operate (and they do so little).

We take it to the next level. We can set up any scenario of events to take place and give you centralized control of all subsystems. For example— you push a button and all equipment comes on, drapes close, lights dim, air-conditioning goes to comfort level, satellite goes to your favorite station and the remote brings up the satellite control screen. Also see Home Theater for more information.

We will determine a scope of design that is tailored to your specific needs and expectations. You tell us what you would like your systems to do and we will make it happen.

We determine the types of interaction and control that you need and design comprehensive security and control that is easy to operate. We realize that even though systems can become quite sophisticated, the user interface must always be simple, intuitive and user-friendly. The intent of security and home control is to make life safer and easier...not harder.

Examples of Systems Integration:
  • Someone rings your doorbell (which rings on every phone in the house). You can see who is at the front door or driveway gate by switching to a channel on any TV to view that camera. You can then pick up any telephone and talk to them. If you want to open the gate or door lock, you just push a button on the phone.
  • All security cameras are recorded on digital video recorders in case you need to look back at something. This gives you time-stamped documentation, should you ever need it.
  • You can view cameras over the Internet when out of town from anywhere in the world to check on things (even at night).
  • Lighting scenes for a room or the entire house (as well as outside lighting) can be chosen and activated at the touch of a button to create moods, entertain, light a path from your bed to the bathroom, kitchen, etc.
  • Music can be turned on in any room of the house. One shared set of components (CD, Satellite, Radio, etc.) can be chosen. Components can be hidden in a closet. Components can be controlled (change stations, change CDs, change track, pause, etc.). The volume can be adjusted in a single room or for the entire house.
  • Video (Satellite, VCR, DVD) can be sent to other rooms in the house from your entertainment center. This way you don't waste money by duplicating components that clutter up you decor.
  • One high speed wideband DSL Internet connection can be shared with all computers and systems throughout the house. Share printer, software, fax, files, scanner, etc.

See Shared Systems Integration Design and Installation for more examples

Computer Scheduler

A computer can be integrated into your control system to create different scheduled scenarios for any day, time of day, etc. Things can happen all by themselves.

Examples are—
  • Your bedroom drapes could open at a preset time in the morning to wake you for the day and close at night for privacy.
  • Coffee starts making and the news or music could come on while you are getting ready for the day.
  • The lights and TVs could go on and off from room to room while you are out of town to make the house look like someone is home.
  • The possibilities are endless.

Scalability

We will design and build in scalability into your design, cabling, components, subsystems, integration and control so your system is capable of future expansion by simple add-ons, not by starting over. This way you can future-proof your home.

Open Architecture

We offer complete, customized and personal consulting, design and implementation of scalability and open architecture home control and security. Open architecture control is the process of integrating differing products from various manufacturers within the home, allowing for complete communication in a seamless fashion to meet your needs.

Other companies that are trying to compete in the home control and security markets continue to find themselves limited in customizing the needs of today’s demanding homeowners. Manufacturers like Crestron, Panja, and Vantage have designed closed architecture home control systems that only operate as a single platform, limiting functionality and future upgrades.

Closed architecture/proprietary systems will always be limited to the products and features the those system manufacturers have time to or care to support. These systems must be designed to accommodate special wiring needs, the user only has one place to buy their equipment, and if the proprietary manufacturer changes their system or goes out of business, the homeowner is left in a very disadvantageous position.

Home control and security is now convenient and easy. You are in more control of your world. You are safer. It pays for itself many times over. It just make sense.
